Verdict

How they differ

Price

On our current listings, Vouliagmeni asks about 86% more per square metre than Glyfada. Our Vouliagmeni figures include Kavouri. In both places, a sea view and the size of the plot account for much of the spread between homes.

Life there

Glyfada works on foot. Shops, restaurants and services are in the centre, and the tram runs to central Athens. Vouliagmeni is about ten minutes south by car and much calmer. Life there turns around the lake, the beaches and the marina, and the car does the rest.

What you get for the money

In Glyfada the money often goes into an apartment close to the centre, or a house in Ano Glyfada on the Hymettus slopes. In Vouliagmeni it goes into space and quiet: villas on landscaped plots, and fewer homes per street.
