Homes for sale and rent in Varkiza

Varkiza is the coastal part of Vari, about 25 km from central Athens, just past Vouliagmeni on the road to Sounion. It is built around a long sandy bay with organised beaches, a small harbour and Yabanaki, a large organised beach at the edge of the bay.

Housing is a mix of apartments and maisonettes near the centre and the seafront, with detached houses on the slopes behind. Much of the older stock dates from when Varkiza was mainly a summer resort. Today it is lived in year-round, and newer maisonettes have filled the streets above the coast.

Shops, cafés and services are within walking distance of the beach. Vari’s centre is a few minutes inland, and Vouliagmeni is just west along the coastal road. The airport is reached through Vari and Koropi.

Varkiza suits buyers who want a beach town with a working centre. In summer it gets busier than its size suggests, when Athenians come for the beaches.
